Standing at four stories tall, Union Station was more than capable of blocking the view of all but the clock tower of Great Northern Station from downtown. The station was built from red brick and white stone, that along with the large arched windows and terracotta trim on the town facing side of the building gave it a more elegant appearance than its competitor across the river.
