A boom of logs is towed down the Spokane River toward Post Falls by a tug boat. Logs were sorted by the brand or mark, collected into a boom and towed to the mill. Courtesy of the Museum of North Idaho.

The River Pigs of Logging: Logging on the River
Logging Companies used rivers and lakes to move logs from the logging camps to the mills. The brave men that guided the logs on the journey were called the River Pigs.
