A view of the trail as you pass through the town of Malden. Although there are no shops in Malden, the town is full of great Palouse history. It was the divisional headquarters for the CM & SP and was home to one of the world's largest roundhouses. The depot and roundhouse no longer exist, along with most of what was once a booming frontier town. Malden and nearby Pine City as still worth the side-trek to look at the town and consider how these places were once booming farming communities with hundreds of residents.
